Set in an elevated position above the River Leven, this stylish apartment is a romantic vantage point for exploring the southern reaches of the Lake District National Park. Located a mere 2.5 miles from Lake Windermere, you’ll soon be hopping on a boat and taking to the water to bask in the sweeping landscape and towering mountains, returning with armloads of local produce to transform into sumptuous suppers for two. Eat alfresco on your private balcony with a view, clinking glasses of foaming Champagne to celebrate your special staycation.

Based in a contemporary building, your sleek and stylish haven is the epitome of luxury, boasting three balconies with fantastic views of the nearby steam railway, wooded hillside and Ironworks monument. Your sleeping quarters are beautifully finished with mood lighting and lavish bedding, which will prove far too tempting after a soak in the elegant bathroom. Sizzle up celebrity-worthy breakfasts in the lounge/kitchen/diner, and brew a fresh pot of coffee to savour whilst planning your day’s activities. At night-time, the cosy sofas are a treat for relaxing over a glass of wine and a good film. There is private parking for one car and, for the nights you don’t feel like cooking, there is a pub in the village.

Backbarrow is a superb destination for cyclists keen to discover the windswept countryside by bike, and you can hop on board a bike bus to conserve your energy until you reach Ambleside, 14.5 miles away. Pretty Newby Bridge is within 1.5 miles, offering a fine selection of independent shops and eateries, and Lakeside Pier, 2.5 miles away, has a regular launch service to take you across the water to Bowness-on-Windermere and beyond. If you are feeling energetic, you could try your hand at a variety of water sports such as kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.
