Surrounded by a peaceful woodland estate, this beautifully restored cottage makes a lovely retreat on the north-western fringe of the Lake District. Just a few miles from the sparkling Cumbria coastline, the cottage makes a wonderful getaway for couples and families enjoying this spellbinding area. Offering secluded, fresh and relaxing holiday accommodation for up to four guests, this pretty cottage is a fantastic base for eager walkers, cyclists and nature lovers discovering the region’s spectacular lakes and glorious countryside.

Entering this characterful and thoughtfully updated cottage, the lovely old front door leads directly into a cosy lounge. This is a lovely room to unwind in, with a Smart TV and a wood burner so you can snuggle up and relax with a favourite movie or a good book at the end of a great day. From the stone mullion windows you can see the secluded grounds around the lodge, with chances to spot deer and red squirrels. The lovely country-style kitchen/diner is perfect for preparing and sharing family meals, and there’s a handy 3D map to help you plan your travels. Down the hallway there’s a shower room and a double bedroom with plenty of storage space. The other bedroom is a pretty twin room off the lounge, with a feature stone fireplace and antique furniture. Outside, the small private back garden has a lovely patio providing a charming space for a glass of wine in the evening.

The historic market town of Cockermouth (7.5 miles) has an array of friendly pubs, shops and restaurants and is home to Wordsworth House and Garden. Walkers can head into the Lake District, with the nearest lakes being Loweswater (4.5 miles) and Crummock Water (9 miles). Other landmarks include Blake Fell, Holme Force Waterfall and Blakeley Raise Stone Circle (all within 6 miles).

The most comfortable, welcoming and lovely cottage, beautifully renovated and decorated. This is a perfect cottage in a peaceful and beautiful location, perfect for a quiet and relaxing break. The owners went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. The beds are comfortable and there is everything you need.

Cant fault this lovely cottage! Very warm and cosy, kitchen very well equipped. Bed comfortable. Shower great. Martin and Debbie were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Debbies baking is marvellous! If you are looking for peace and quiet and a relaxing time this is the place.

Very relaxing stay at the cottage. Very comfortable, with everything we needed. Lovely owners set up Halloween decorations and brought a pumpkin for the kids.

A very clean country cottage in a quiet location. It is well equipped and nicely furnished. We were cold for some of the time there because the heating has set programme times. It does not come on until 7.30 am and it goes off at 9.30am. It goes off at 9.30 in the evening; which seems rather early. My husband was a dab hand at lighting the wood burRead morening stove, which we really needed. The hot water was only available when the heating was on. Overall, we enjoyed our week at the cottage. We had the most lovely holiday. The cottage was perfect. It was cosy, comfortable and clean. The owners even gave us some homemade carrot cake when we left which was delicious. We highly recommend.

This cottage was perfect. The location was great, far enough away from the town so you can enjoy peace and quiet! It was only a 15-18 minute drive into Cockermouth town and to a supermarket. Nice quiet area, central for a lot of the local places of interest. Muncaster Castle with bird flying displays and Honister Slate mine are worth visiting. Another very interesting trip was to the Predator Experience, walking with wolves. Due to the country roads, best plan for one visit per day.

This is a beautiful, cosy and comfortable cottage in a very quiet location. If you enjoy peacefully listening to the sounds of nature this is an ideal spot! Nearby places to visit include Cockermouth, Caldbeck and Carlisle. The Lake District Wildlife Park is worth a visit too. We enjoyed our week's stay so much, we have booked again!

We had such a wonderful stay here. Its a really favourite area of the Lakes for us and we really felt like we were just secreted away in a cottage in the woods but so close to Cockermouth and Ennerdale, Bassenthwaite etc. The cottage is beautifully renovated and appointed and we were so comfortable and loved the log wood burner. We had a lovely vegan welcome pack, including cookies, oak milk and bread. The cottage is very cute and cosy, everything was perfect and immaculately clean. The location was great for us as it allowed us to explore the Lake District and the north into Scotland. We loved this quieter part of the Lake District close to Ennerdale Water and Buttermouth. This feels like a little cottage in the woods. Quiet and isolated. It was very cosy for 2 of us, 4 adults in the sitting room might feel a bit too cosy. Very clean and well cared for.

The cottage as stated was perfect, the estate was not what we were expecting. We expected to be able to go through the estate on trails, but were not allowed to go on the estate. The cottage was too remote for visiting other areas of the lakes.

The cottage was excellent and very comfortable . Perfect for a quiet holiday. The cottage is secluded surrounded by gardens and woodland, When we arrived there was an excellent welcome pack and all the basic food requirements - eggs, milk, bread, porridge, oil, spices, cookies and wine!
