This remarkable property, just 5 miles from the pretty Georgian town of Cockermouth, sleeps five guests and is full of luxurious touches to make your holiday feel extra special. The bungalow benefits from spectacular views, thanks to its elevated position. Head to the coast to explore Maryport (3 miles), with its attractive marina, large beach and fish and chip shops. Calm and serenity can be found on the shores of nearby Bassenthwaite Lake, just over 20 miles away or in the mountainous surroundings of Whinlatter Forest Park (13.5 miles).

The spacious bungalow exudes elegance, with great attention paid to selecting stylish accessories and chic soft furnishings to complement each area. The inviting lounge features plump sofas to sink into after a busy day, whilst admiring the far-reaching countryside views. Just off the lounge, you’ll find the light and bright kitchen with a delightful breakfast bar, as well as the fabulous conservatory which houses the dining table. This open-plan layout makes the living area incredibly sociable. The property has a wonderful outdoor area, including a large lawn with picnic benches and swings for the children. There’s also a sunny patio where you can enjoy an aperitif or relax with a good book.

It’s easy to while away a few hours in the fishing town of Maryport. Watch the boats coming and going in the picturesque harbour, visit the aquarium or enjoy a stroll along the promenade to watch the sun set over the Irish Sea. Pack a picnic and spend a day by the water at Bassenthwaite Lake. The 4-mile body of water is superb, and you can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the shore path. Whisky, gin, or vodka connoisseurs must visit The Lakes Distillery, where you can take a tour to sample the artisan spirits.

The cottage itself and the gardens were beautiful. The beds were the most comfortable we had ever slept in. It was spotlessly clean. Things to do less than 10 minutes by car. this is our second visit to this cottage this year, it is so cosy, warm and clean, highly appointed and in a great location for the coast and the northern lakes. The bonus is the hot tub looking out at the northern fells, albeit this visit was after dark so looking up at the stars. Hope to return next year

A well presented cottage with excellent fixtures and fittings a credit to the owner Jill. A great location, peace and quiet and easy reach to the coast and lakeland fells. Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
