The bungalow is situated close to the pretty market town of Cockermouth, with a great selection of independent shops, restaurants and brewery as well as the coastal town of Maryport with it's marina and beaches. The property sits in an elevated position in a small hamlet with views from the back garden over the Fells. There are some fabulous walks from the front door, and it is a popular area for cyclists. You are just three miles from the coast and a mere seven miles from the Lake District National Park. William Wordsworth’s birthplace, House and Gardens are just a short drive away. Beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake is a short drive away, there is a shore path which runs the length of the West shore and an open-air theatre at Mirehouse which is worth a visit.

Entering the house from the hall you will find a welcoming, bright lounge with feature gas fireplace, Smart TV and countryside views, the kitchen and dining room are both just off the lounge making the living area within the house very sociable and spacious. The kitchen is equipped with breakfast bar, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The formal dining area, is in the conservatory, overlooking the enclosed garden and patio. From the kitchen walking back out through the hallway, there are three bedrooms, a king-size with smart TV, a single and a double. Completing the property is the bathroom across the hall from the bedrooms, with bath, separate shower and WC.

Heading out of the house into the large enclosed garden, there is a lawn to the front of the house and some lovely fruit trees, swings, picnic bench and patio with seating to the rear of the property with a BBQ area (for use with disposable BBQ’s, not provided). The large private hot tub is so inviting, relax and take in the views over the Fells whilst enjoying a few drinks, it is also the perfect spot for star gazing. The garage is home to the utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a table tennis which will bring out the competition in the party. You might also spot a pigmy goat or Shetland pony in the fields at the back of the house. The drive has private parking for two cars.

Oakdene is a stunning chic cottage. The decor is lovely. The weather wasnt the best but we still managed to enjoy the surrounding areas. Hopefully we will stay again. Many thanks.

Oakdene is possibly one of the best holiday cottages we've ever stayed in. It is kitted out to an exceptionally high standard and Jill's finishing touches were just the icing on the cake. Oakdene makes a great base for exploring the lakes (and the coastline) and the grounds of Oakdene are very private and peaceful meaning that it is also ideal if yRead moreou are simply looking for a relaxing and comfortable retreat. Finally - the hot tub was amazing and entertained my 7-year-old for many hours! Hide

A well presented cottage with excellent fixtures and fittings a credit to the owner Jill. A great location, peace and quiet and easy reach to the coast and lakeland fells. The hot tub is an added bonus looking out across fields to the fells, or to relax in the well kept gardens. Hope to stay here again Ron and Marian Owen

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
