Discover the western reaches of the Lake District with your loved ones by your side, choosing this delightful property as the base for your explorations. Sleeping ten guests in comfort, you’ll have the Wasdale Valley on your doorstep and be within touring distance of the Cumbrian coast. This windswept region is famed for the towering peaks of the Scafells, the ethereal beauty of Wastwater, and the myriad of trails leading through the unspoilt countryside that will tempt walkers and cyclists alike. Challenge your party to adrenaline-fuelled activities such as rock climbing, ghyll scrambling and paddleboarding via the popular activity centre 6 miles away, or take a quiet stroll along the River Irt with a picnic. Change pace with a visit to Ravenglass 5 miles away to explore the estuary and natural harbour, or venture the 7-mile drive to Seascale to appreciate the sandy beaches and safe bathing spots.

 

This property may appear rustic and traditional on the outside, but beneath the classic exterior is a contemporary and spacious retreat characterised by stylish decor and comfortable furnishing. Original features add to the overall charm, which you’ll notice from the moment you enter via the kitchen and take a seat with a glass of wine in hand. The open-plan kitchen/diner is bright with a wood burner and sofas to one side, ample dining space in the centre, and a generous kitchen with a central island to finish. Equipped with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, Lavazza coffee machine and a fridge/freezer, you’ll have everything you need to prepare meals for your entire group. A second lounge provides a cosy space to relax with a second wood burner, a Smart TV and DVD  for leisurely evening entertainment, and there are steps leading up to a useful utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and an additional WC. Next, the snug room will prove irresistible to younger guests thanks to the beanbags, corner sofa and TV. At bedtime, you’ll have a choice of five bedrooms split between the upper levels of the property. You can reach the superb super-king-size with en-suite shower room and WC by following the stairs leading from the hallway next to the snug. This section of the cottage also features a double bedroom and a twin room alongside an excellent family bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath, walk-in shower and WC. Back downstairs, the lounge has a set of stairs that lead up to the remaining bedrooms and a shower room with WC. Consisting of a double bedroom and an adjacent twin bedroom, you’ll be spoilt for choice of where to rest.

 

Bi-fold doors lead from the kitchen out into the rear garden, a beautiful and tranquil setting that backs on to a pretty stream. Ample lawn space, pretty shrubbery and garden furniture create a backdrop for al fresco meals, and there is ample off-road parking.

Loved the amount of space we had for eight adults and two children. Kitchen diner space was fantastic! Spent so many happy moments in that room all together. Wonderful to be able to do walks straight from the house. Definitely need more wine glasses. Countless champagne glasses but only two wine glasses. We loved our week at Mill cottage. We were a party of 9 and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space and equipment for everyone ( apart from forks and wineglasses ) issue with the hot water but it was resolved super quickly Despite recent reviews around the houses condition we arrived to a spotless house and clean/ comfy beds and sofas. Lovely cottage in great location and very close (2 min walk) to a nice pub with excellent selection of beers and good food. We had a few issues with the property (key had been left in lock so could not gain access initially, lights not working in one part of the house due to electrial fault, cesspit pumping problems and no underfloor heating) but aRead morell were addressed quickly and efficiently by Sally's Cottages & the owners. Spent Christmas here with my sisters and our families. An amazing gorgeous magical place. Stunning cottage which was constantly warm (a bonus..They do not scrimp on the heat at all) beautiful log fires, equipped with everything you need. A beautiful cottage and surroundings for dogs. A lovely pub down the lane and dog friendly. It was a wonderful cottage, very enjoyable for a large family holiday. Lots of space, kitchen had every type of utensil needed, and everywhere was clean and tidy on our arrival. The pub was just down the lane, food and staff very friendly and welcomes dogs.

Cottage better in person, beautiful! Food at pub was lovely, and great that its a a stone throw away. Perfect for easy walks around the doors or very short drive to all mountains!

Lovely house. Quiet location. Well equipped. Would recommend ASDA food delivery to any other guests (we did this) Loads of hot water, great showers and bath. Comfy beds. Not really anywhere to store food in kitchen but not sure what you can really do about that. Otherwise a really happy week. Ghyll walked and hired bikes with west lakes adventure- Read moredefinitely recommend. Bridge Inn great for food on the doorstep. Ate in twice and had take away one night too. Brilliant holiday. Absolutely loved the cottage. Brilliant location and would really love to return as quiet and so close to pub and Woodland Cafe.
