Aynsome Manor Park lies just under a mile from the beautiful village of Cartmel. Located on the Cartmel Peninsular, surrounded by rolling hills that tumble down to the coast, the village is picture perfect, with ancient buildings, an impressive medieval priory, a towering arch and a sweet, clear river all centred on the village square, along with a selection of fine pubs and restaurants, complimented by local food and artisan shops.

Ducklings Retreat is one of a group of adjoining apartments and cottages that flank a small shared courtyard. The building was formerly the old mill and is separate from the main park, which offers privately owned lodges.

Owners, Marion and Kevin, have completely refurbished the apartment to offer their guests a contemporary, chic Lakeland retreat, perfect for summer holidays and all year-round romantic weekend breaks. As owners of their own interior design company, they have been able to draw on their experience to give a relaxing Scandinavian feel, along with a true sense of quality as recognised by Visit England's 5 Star award.

Living Spaces

From the sunny shared courtyard, you enter a communal hall, where stairs lead up to the first floor and the property.

The entrance hall leads to the main living area which is open plan. The sitting room space is beautifully furnished with a modern cream leather sofa along with the Swedish classic lamino oak and sheepskin chair, perfect to tuck up with the latest best seller or take in a movie on the wide screen Smart TV. Come cooler and winter months the ambience is enhanced by a Gazco LED inset fire.

The kitchen area is well planned and fitted, ideal to rustle up your favourite dish to enjoy at the bespoke oak dining table.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

The bedroom is delightfully comfortable and beautifully furnished with fitted wardrobes and individually designed dressing table and bed, promising sweet dreams.

The shower room is modern with under floor heating and has been fitted from the catalogues of Hansgrohe and Villeroy & Boch, offering a super walk-in rainfall shower along with a basin and WC. All enhanced with complimentary Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Grounds & Gardens

Outside the area around the duck pond is for all to share. Here you can sit with a glass of Prosecco on a warm summer night and watch the coming and goings of pond life. The enclosed sunny courtyard overlooking the little fountain feature also offers the opportunity to sit out and relax.

For me this relaxing apartment seems just perfect for couples seeking a cosy stylish romantic retreat, a short stroll to a delightful village where you can step out for dining, along with the landscape of the National Park just there waiting to be explored.

Out & About

Cartmel has become one of The Lake District's most popular destinations. Architecturally it is a little gem. Whitewashed traditional buildings, a maze of little streets all heading to the village square, along with a river, a national hunt racecourse and a huge Norman priory each combine to make a picture perfect village. Add to this some excellent shops, four good pubs and the Good Food Guide's No1 restaurant, Simon Rogan's L'Enclume, you have quite a special little village.

There are good local walks, notable is Hampsfell and Eggerslack Wood, a limestone fell and ancient woodland where the summit gives panoramic views of the Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Mountains, and where in spring the woodland is carpeted in bluebells.

For further afield explorations the village is only twelve miles from the foot of Lake Windermere and from here it is easy to explore wider areas of the National Park.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.
