Cook up a storm in the bright modern kitchen overlooking the garden and enjoy at the snug table for two. When it's time to turn in, head upstairs to the inviting double bedroom dressed in crisp linens with colourful cushions and throws. Spend sunny evenings outside on your private patio, a heavenly haven overlooking the distant hills.

A very comfortable, cosy little cottage tastefully decorated throughout. A good location for the Dales and the Lakes set in the small but friendly town of Sedbergh. Most places very dog friendly which made our stay very enjoyable and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

We enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage. Thank you for the welcome basket-that is a nice touch. Millthrop is well placed to branch out to many places-Malham, Hawes Keswick, Grasmere etc. We did the walk across to Dent also which is very nice.

This is a lovely small cottage set in ideal location for N Yorks and S Lakes walks of which there is a vast choice! Very clean and bed very comfy - unlike many other cottages we have hired! It has equipment commensurate with its size and quite sufficient.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
