Set in a tranquil village at the southern end of the Rusland Valley, this light, charming and romantic cottage makes a lovely retreat for a couple or a small family eager to explore the southern part of the Lake District. With Windermere just 4 miles away, the secluded village of Bouth is a fantastic holiday base for keen walkers and cyclists. Offering delightful accommodation for three guests, the cottage has miles of spectacular walks and cycle trails right from the door.

 

Stepping into the cottage, you will find a delightful lounge with a traditional wood burner set in an inglenook along an exposed stone wall. A step leads up into the bright and fresh dining room which is a perfect spot for a romantic meal which you can cook in the fully equipped kitchen. Two cosy and coolly decorated bedrooms can be found upstairs: a master bedroom with a king-size bed and a charming single room. There’s also a stylish bathroom complete with bath. The enclosed back garden is ideal for a BBQ or a glass of wine in the evening.

 

The tranquil village of Bouth has a friendly pub and is perfect for guests seeking an idyllic base for exploring the Lake District. Windermere is to the north-east (4 miles), with Coniston Water (6 miles) and Esthwaite Water (9.5 miles) to the north. Heading south, the village of Cartmel (9 miles) has a range of boutique shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as a medieval priory, heritage centre and plenty of charm. The thriving town of Ulverston is within easy reach (6 miles). Numerous other attractions in this beautiful area include The Old Man of Coniston (12 miles), South Lakes Safari Zoo (9.5 miles), Grizedale Forest (8 miles) and Holker Hall and Gardens (6.5 miles).

Great location in the South Lakes. Everything you need for a short break. Very cosy and comfortable. The White Hart pub in the village was good but the food at The Manor Housw OxenPark was superb. A great little cottage

Lovely cosy cottage. Well equipped. Enjoyed the wood burner. Good food at the local pub. Great base to visit other parts of the Lake District. Plenty of local walks too if you dont want to travel too far.

Lovely comfortable cottage, remote quiet location and short drive to Windermere and Coniston lakes. Really comfortable furnishings, bed etc, loved the wood burner and big jacuzzi bath after rainy days out. Good decor and extra touches such as candles and artwork, so felt really homely. Nice cottage in a lovely village, needs some modernising, e.g. new mattresses, plus maintenance to the trees outside as the cottage was vey dark inside.

We had a wonderful time in the cottage. It was very well appointed, tastefully decorated and in a lovely location. The enclosed garden was perfect for our young dog too. We would be more than happy to stay here again.

Beautifully furnished; lovely clean sheets & towels but kitchen not particularly clean on arrival. Cottage furnished to very high standard with good selection of kitchen implements; enclosed rear garden great for children and dogs. Beautiful view from front bedroon towards forest. Perfect sized cottage for a couple, a toddler and a spaniel. Back garden well maintained and enclosed. Gorgeous views over the surrounding fields. Good location for family friendly activities at Grizedale and Fellfoot with Windermere not much further down the road. This being our second time at Kiln cottage and felt it was just as good as last year, but with a few minor improvements like more kitchen ware and more games and books and local information sheets. The TV signal was abit hit and miss, but I suppose you'd expect that given the location however you can utilise the smart TV apps and log on to any accoRead moreunts you have ie Netflix, Amazon etc and the WiFi is excellent too The beds are comfortable with good clean bedding, the bathroom was excellent size. We had a really lovely stay at this cosy,comfortable cottage.The jacuzzi bath was fantastic.Haven't stayed in this area of the Lakes before. Bouth lovely quiet village with nice walks around. Only negative the cleanliness of kitchen equipment could have been better.Would definitely return to this area.
