Staying at a traditional stone-built holiday home in Ambleside places friends and family right in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Just over 1 mile away, the northern shores of Lake Windermere at Waterhead make for the perfect group day out. Hire kayaks, try paddleboarding, or board a scenic cruise. Loughrigg Fell (2 miles) is a rewarding yet manageable climb with panoramic lake views. Alternatively, the starting point of the Fairfield Horseshoe (3 miles) opens up a full-day ridge walk with sweeping Lakeland vistas. Take a stroll 0.5 miles to Stock Ghyll Force, where a dramatic 70-foot waterfall tumbles through peaceful woodland. For a cultural escape, head 4 miles to Dove Cottage in Grasmere, once home to William Wordsworth and full of atmospheric literary history. Bowness-on-Windermere (5 miles) boasts lively lakeside cafes and attractions, while the quieter charm of Coniston (8 miles) provides a tranquil setting beneath its rugged mountain backdrop.

The property has been thoughtfully refurbished to a high standard, blending character with contemporary comfort. Entry is on the second floor, where you're welcomed into a generous open-plan living area. Here, a comfortable lounge with Smart TV flows into the dining area and modern, well-equipped kitchen, all framed by lovely views from the lounge and dining windows. Upstairs, four inviting bedrooms are dressed in warm, calming tones to create a restful retreat at the end of each day. There's a king-size room, a double, and two twins, providing flexible accommodation. These are served by a sleek en-suite shower room and a stylish family bathroom for a relaxing soak at the end of the day.

Outside, shared grounds bordered by woodland offer a natural setting, with the sounds of the babbling river creating the backing track to your stay. Two covered parking spaces add everyday convenience, with a height restriction of 1.95 metres.

Loads of space, brilliant location, fantastic views from the lounge of the some of the falls and stream. Atmospheric rookery in the trees. Easy downhill walk into Ambleside (uphill back!). All you need in the kitchen. Three toilets. One parking space is small if cars are meant to drive past under the archway - not sure if anyone does? Recommended. Read moreThank you. Hide

We had a great stay with friends in the Lake District. This place was only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us and there was a modern kitchen and lounge. Easy and flexible check in too! Thanks for hosting us! Thank you for hosting us!

Great place to stay, less than a five minute walk down to the centre of Ambleside. The photos don't do it justice, it's really big, plenty of space for 8 people and very modern too. The apartment is kitted out with everything you could need. Highly recommend, we would definitely come back here.
