If you are looking for a true retreat, far from crowds with fell walks and a pub not to far away, then Rose Cottage in the Duddon Valley may be a good choice for you.

The Duddon Valley lies west of the Coniston Mountain range, one of the least changed landscapes in Lakeland. From the Langdales the river runs the full length of the valley, down to the Duddon Sands, its course flanked by impressive fell. Harter, Dunnerdale and Ulpha offer some challenging high level treks along with many low level paths and trails over moorland, through woodland and by the River banks.

At Seathwaite is the Newfield Inn, an easy one mile walk along country lanes. At the foot of the valley is the lovely village of Broughton with plenty of shops, inns and restaurants. Tyson's is an excellent deli and grocer and next door the bakers makes some of the tastiest bread you will find.

Rose Cottage

Rose cottage has been fully refurbished, offering a true retreat for families and friends set amongst some fine scenery.

The entrance leads into the hall come dining room, off which is the fully fitted kitchen, perfect for preparing tasty meals.

The sitting room is snug and cosy, nicely ornamented and with plump sofas drawn around the open fire. Set under a canopy of oak beams and with a few candles and the crackle of logs you can relax, read or chat about your days exploration.

Upstairs are the three bedrooms, two double and one twin, all very comfortable with nice fabrics and furnishings. The bathroom is well appointed with bath, hand basin, WC and shower cubicle, and downstairs is a further separate WC.

The gardens are secluded and peaceful, with trees and shrubs where guests are welcome to pick any fruit from the kitchen garden.

The cottage and its location combine to provide the perfect setting for family holidays, reunion with friends or romantic breaks.
