How Head House overlooks Coniston Water with a backdrop of high fell and mountain. Set in the heart of the lake district, How Head lies near the north east shores of Coniston Water, offering easy access to the many areas of shoreline open to the the public, along with excellent walks and a nearby village.

The views across to the lake give a panoramic picture of the Coniston mountain range and the mighty 'Old Man' rising above and reflecting in the lake. It is a pleasure to simply watch as its craggy slopes change in hue and colour with the time of day, weather and season.

The village of Coniston lies about a mile and half around the lake, offering shops, cafes and a number of good pubs serving locally brewed ale.

From the village, tracks lead up through the old coppermines valley and to the foot of Coniston Old Man, where the hearty can make an attempt to the 2635 ft summit and view never to be forgotten.

At the boating centre you can hire rowing, sailing and little electric power boats, setting off to explore the shoreline and bays.

How Head House

Originally a barn dating from the 16th century, How Head is now a fine semi detached home. You enter into a lobby and the dining hall area. Furnished with a large dining table and occasional pieces, it makes a fine room for indulging in grand meals and after diner chat.

The kitchen is well planned and equipped with nice touches, such as an American style fridge with ice maker for those long cool summer drinks.

Stairs lead down to the sitting room, furnished with sofas and armchair rockers drawn around a large wood-burning stove. Books, games, video and CDs all endorse the care given to this property.

There are five bedrooms. The master bedroom with its en-suite whirlpool bathroom and overhead shower lies off the dining hall. Private and spacious it has super views across to the lake and mountain. Downstairs are the remaining bedrooms; one double, one twin and two single. There is also a master bathroom fully equipped with bath, separate shower, basin and WC. There is a further separate WC in the hallway.

Outside you will find the games room with a pool table, leather sofas, a log burning stove and doors opening onto the patio area with barbecue.

How Head is set well off the road along a shared driveway, the grounds ideal for children to play and adults to relax.

The house is welcoming and on your arrival there will be a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate the start of your holiday.
