For me, Linden Lea has all I would want as a holiday guest, be it a romantic break as just a couple or perhaps on holiday with my family. A lot of flare and imagination, along with no expense spared, have duly combined to provide a most stylish, comfortable and, I dare to say, elegant holiday home for those that stay.

The property lies on the edge of Field Broughton , a small hamlet a couple of miles from Cartmel, on the Cartmel Peninsular.

Surrounded by meadow and field, Linden Lea is a modern, single story, detached cottage, where the extensive gardens give true peace and quiet.

The walk to Cartmel is only a couple of miles along a flat, easy lane. In the village you will find a clutch of good pubs, a few souvenir shops, a grocer for basics and the Cartmel Village store. Here is home to Mr Johns famed sticky toffee pudding, which sits alongside a host of wonderful deli delights including jams and pickles, pastas and fresh breads. All this, the shops, village houses, river and square, is towered over by the huge Norman Priory, a wonderful piece of architecture and well worth a visit. For something a little special you can try Simon Rogan's Michelin awarded Enclume, one of Cumbrias finest restaurants or, set by the river, his other venue, Rogan's wine bar - very relaxed and with excellent cuisine.

There are some excellent low level walks and cycle rides, along with an easy climb up onto Hampsfell, where the view rewards the walker with a panoramic vista of mountains and the bay. Travel north and, within a few miles, you come to the foot of Windermere, where boats can be hired and steam trips taken.

As well as being very pretty, Cartmel boasts one other famous attraction, the Cartmel Race Course. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful English Lake District, the course is the smallest in the country, yet gets TV coverage with its exciting steeple to steeple chases. Along with the races there is always a fun fair where the whole event gives the village a great party atmosphere.

Linden Lea

Now to the Cottage. From a small scullery room at the rear you enter into the kitchen. Very well equipped with all mod cons, you will find it easy to rustle up a hearty breakfast, a light lunch or a tasty dinner.

From the kitchen you go into the elegant dining room. Beautifully furnished, there is a fine table, heavy fabrics, along with table lamps and candles to set the mood for relaxed diners, accompanied by friendly conversation long into the night.

The sitting room lies across a small central hall. Here the attention to detail continues and all expectations are met. Plump leather sofas, side and standard lamps, pictures and fabrics, along with a real gas fire, combine to offer a cosy elegance, perfect to relax with friends, or simply tuck up with a book or plan your next days expedition.

Back to the hall and you have the master bedroom with a king sized double, perfect with its creamy fabrics and well chosen furnishings. Here also lies the bathroom and, for those that require extra accommodation, the bunk bedroom with full sized beds.

Outside the gardens surround the cottage, perfect to relax and enjoy a drink and with plenty of space for children to play .

All in all this property will suit families but equally make the perfect romantic retreat for special occasions, honeymoons or anniversary - come - enjoy and congratulate yourself on your excellent taste.
