The Swan Hotel Newby Bridge

This cosy cottage lies in the village of Bouth, noted for and adjoining one of Cumbrias best pubs, The White Hart Inn. The location makes for easy exploration of the southern lakes and, to the south, the rolling meadows of the peninsulas and the south lakes coast.

Bouth lies west of Lake Windermere, at the southern end of the Rusland Valley. Popular with visitors for a peaceful setting among low fell, it is away from the busy crowds, offering pretty local walks and cycle rides.

The excellent White Hart Inn is warmly hosted by landlord Nigel, a man who has pulled me many a fine pint. The pub offers one of the finest cellars of local ales, robust pub grub, all served up to the glow of a roaring log fire under a canopy of blackened oak beams.

There are local walks through the deer park, and a short car ride brings you to the foot of Windermere, where you can spend a day at Fell Foot park, mucking about in and on the water. Head south on the peninsular and you can explore the coast line, picking up Cumbria's section of the coastal way.

Hill View

The cottage lies at the heart of village, adjoining the pub, overlooking the little village green with its childrens play area.

From the side entrance you step into the kitchen with its dining room area. Well equipped, you have a log burning stove to add a little romance and atmosphere to the evening.

The sitting room is cosy, with arm chair and sofa set around another log burner, perfect to curl up with a good book or take in a movie.

Up stairs and you have two very nice double bedrooms, with a main bathroom offering a whirlpool bath where you can relax tired limbs after a day on the fells.

This is a great cottage, perfect for a small family and ideal for couples who want an easy holiday, where they can relax and enjoy a meal and drink after the days explorations - Perfect.
