Of the many museums and galleries and attractions you will find in Cumbria, The Brewery Arts Centre has much to offer. Located in Kendal a visit to The Brewery can part of your days exploration of the town, which offers museums, cinema and shops along with many restaurants and inns, where you can dine out before returning to your Lake District Self Catering Holiday cottage.
The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal is a hub of creativity in the small South Lakes town. From humble beginnings as a small theatre, the centre now has a 450 capacity music venue, three cinemas, visual arts and photographic galleries, a drama studio, art and crafts workshops, darkroom facilities, playgroup and meeting rooms, a great restaurant, the famous Vats Bar, an art-house cinema and Warehouse Café and a fantastic theatre seating 260.
The Brewery is known nationally as a centre for world-class theatre, music, art and events, which, for a rural market town, is a true asset. It also hosts international festivals such as the Kendal Mountain Festival, the Women’s Art International Festival and Gateway International Roots Music Festival.
Venues
The Brewery hosts some of the finest arts and cultural events in Cumbria. All of the venues are available for you to host your own events.
The Malt Room is a flexible venue that can accommodate up to 200 without catering (seating up to 120) or 175 with catering. Popular for receptions and parties, it offers a dance floor, platform stage and its own private bar facility. Full of the character of the old Brewery, its intimate feel makes it suitable for smaller groups too.
The Theatre, re-built in 1993, seats 260 and offers a raked auditorium with an intimate feel and a large flat stage area. It is suitable for events such as talks, lectures, conferences, shows and film. We also, on occasion, use the theatre as Screen 3 for our cinema.
The Warehouse is the brand new arts café bar and cinema is the most original venue in town. Shabby chic meets art house meets cool comfort – a meeting place for artists, audiences and anyone who wants somewhere to feel at home, to read, or to share thoughts, ideas and time with friends and colleagues.
