Most towns have late night shopping on Thursdays and there are Christmas markets too, with a sprinkling of Christmas lights to add to the festive feel.
Eating Out
Cumbria offers everything from Michelin starred restaurants to award winning fish and chip shops, and everything in between. Local specialities include Cumbria Fell Bred lamb and the famous Sticky Toffee pudding, but of course the traditional Christmas Dinner will also be available and most large hotels, pubs and restaurants are now taking Christmas Lunch bookings.
Outdoors
There are many safe walking routes and if you are lucky with the weather you maybe enjoy the beauty of a frost laden woods, icy lakes and snowy mountains. For those who feel brave enough, there is the traditional annual dip in Lake Windermere on New Year’s Day.
