Wetherlam - Tent Lodge Estate
Tent Lodge Estates, North East Coniston Water
Sleeps 2 plus 2 - Map Ref E3 - Friday Changeover - VB 3 Star
Passes to Langdale Leisure Club: Adult £20, Child £10 per person per week

You will find few places that will give such a deep sense of the power and beauty of Lakelands landscape as the Tent Lodge Estate. Steeped in historical connections it has been home and inspiration to such poets, writers and artists as Turner, Arthur Ransome and Lord Alfred Tennyson.
Today the Estate offers a selection of holiday homes and cottages to suit all party sizes, set in one of the finest locations in the central Lake District. Here, each cottage is a short distance from the private waters edge, where the view is filled by the high peaks of Coniston’s mountain range, reflected in deep waters.

The Estate lies at the north east head of Coniston Water, the properties and grounds set a little above the lake, where a twenty acre meadow sweeps down to the waters edge.

There are three jetties which at, for a small fee, guests may moor their own boats or hire rowing, sailing or powered boats from the Coniston Boating Centre. With eight hundred yards of shore line to explore and the whole lake to muck about on, in and by, you have the ideal recipe for the perfect Lakeland holiday.

The village of Coniston lies about a mile and half around the lake, offering shops, cafes and a number of good pubs serving locally brewed ale.

From the village, tracks lead up through the old coppermines valley and to the foot of Coniston Old Man, where the hearty can make an attempt to the 2635 ft summit and view never to be forgotten.

Wetherlam

Wetherlam and its adjoining cottages are all situated on the west side of the lane on the Tent Lodge Estate. They are set around the central courtyard bounded by Tinkler Beck Farm and Cottage.

Shared with Grizedale you have a large, peaceful and shady garden area in which to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. The short walk across the meadow brings you to the lake shore and the private jetties.

The corner cottage of the three, Wetherlam offers the perfect romantic, snug retreat for two. From the porch you step into the sitting room. Plump sofa and arm chair face a cheering open fire. Light streams through the windows, which give views to the garden, lake and mountains.

The well equipped kitchen has flag floors and oak beams, and all you need add is a little candlelight for the perfect romantic supper.

Upstairs is the double bedroom and bathroom with bath, overhead shower, hand basin and wc. There is also a small bunk bedroom which may be used at a small extra charge and on request.

Outside you can relax in the large shared garden or wander down to the lake shore for a picnic or swim.

Whether you like mucking about on water, relaxing in beautiful surrounds or simply tucking up with a good book, Wetherlam will afford you that special romantic setting for a memorable lakeland holiday.
