The Townson Ground lies at the north east head of Coniston Water, a group of six adjoining, individually owned houses and cottages.
The village of Coniston lies about a mile and half around the lake, offering shops, cafes and a number of good pubs serving locally brewed ale.
From the village, tracks lead up through the old coppermines valley and to the foot of Coniston Old Man, where the hearty can make an attempt to the 2635 ft summit and view never to be forgotten.
At the boating centre you can hire rowing, sailing and little electric power boats, setting off to explore the shoreline and bays.
The Cottage
The Cottage adjoins Ruskin to one side and Forest Cottage to the other. From the main parking courtyard, steps lead down to a small patio seating area and the front door of The Cottage. You enter into the open plan kitchen - dining and sitting room, with leather sofa and armchair, a roaring log fire, occasional lighting and a table under a sunny window for dining. The kitchen area is well equipped, perfect for rustling up lunch or dinner.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one a double, the other a small single. The bathroom has bath, overhead shower, basin and WC.
Out side is a small patio area where you can dine or read in the sun or simply chat over a glass of wine.
With the lake so close, plenty of walks and a good village a short distance away, The Cottage is perfect for couples or a small family, ideal to explore cenral lakeland.
