Miller's Loft - Lindale
Lindale, near Newby Bridge and Grange - over - Sands
Sleeps 2 - Map Ref F5 - Membership to the Netherwood Hotel Leisure Club - VB 4 Star

This fine little cottage for two offers romantic breaks, with easy access to the lakes, fells and the rugged coastline of the penninsular.

Lindale is an ideal base to explore the undiscovered beauty spots of the south lakes and the peninsulas. The village is quite delightful, with craggy stone houses huddled together marching down the hill, where from the top you get a fine view of some lovely architecture with a backdrop of Morecambe Bay. There are two pubs, both serving local ale and good pub food and a village store for most day to day items.

You will have plenty of walks, one of the best is to pick up Cumbrias Coastal Way, where you can discover such gems as Humphrey Head or drive across the bay to Arnside for a great route down the bay shoreline, with miles of flat sands reaching out before you as the tide goes out - please note you must observe the bay warnings and stick to the edge.

Nearby is the village of Grange over Sands, with its promenade looking out to the bay with many cafes, shops and an excellent butcher, deli and grocer.

Sheltering both villages is the huge limestone fell of Hampsfell with trails, woodlands and stunning mountain and coastal views. At the summit you will a fine example of a limestone pavement, and the unusual feature of the little stone hospice, with its compass, carvings, stone seats and fireplace.

Miller’s Loft is the old granary store and part of the 17C Miller’s house. The beck and waterfall that run nearby once powered the water wheel.

From a little shared courtyard and parking area you enter up the stone steps to a small hall, off which is the bathroom with overhead shower, hand basin and WC.

The sitting room and kitchen are open plan. Rough cast walls, heavy beams and a plump sofa sit in front of a log fire, combining to make a cosy room to wine and dine or tuck up with a good book.

The bedroom is pleasing with a dark wood double bed and occasional furniture.

The courtyard has a bench where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine, all to the sound of rushing water.
