Hermitage Cottage - Bowness
Bowness On Windermere
Sleeps 2 - Map Ref G3 - VB 3 Star

Hermitage Cottage lies above Bowness, one of the Lake Districts most popular villages, with its many shops, inns, cafes and restaurants all marching down the hill, ending at the sweeping bay with its boats and steamers overlooking Lake Windermere. For those couples who enjoy exploring the landscape by day and steping out to wine and dine in the evening, then Hermitage Cottage will be an ideal choice.

The Hermitage lies about half a mile up the hill from Bowness Bay, approached by a leafy private road. The village offers everything for a perfect lakeland holiday. At the bay you can hire row boats, little power craft or board a steamer for a trip up the lake.

There are plenty of shops and cafes, along with some fine attractions. The steam boat museum is well worth a visit, where you can take a trip on a restored victorian craft. Come evening there is the cinema and theatre, where after you can sample the culinary delights on offer such as the Port Hole Eating House and the renowned Miller Howe.

Originally the butler’s wing of this fine Lakeland home, the cottage sits behind the main house courtyard with its own small patio area looking onto woodland.

You step into a cosy open plan sitting room, dining - kitchen area, perfect for easy meals, relaxing, playing games or tucking up with a good book.

Upstairs is a most pleasing and quite romantic double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, overhead shower, basin and WC.

The surrounding wood and pasture are a habitat for a great variety of wild life and it is highly likely you will see wild deer, fox and badger.

The cottage, along with its setting combined with many local walks
and the attraction of the village makes this the perfect little retreat for a Lakeland holiday.
