The Townson Ground lies at the north east head of Coniston Water, a group of six adjoining, individually owned houses and cottages.
The village of Coniston lies about a mile and half around the lake, offering shops, cafes and a number of good pubs serving locally brewed ale.
From the village, tracks lead up through the old coppermines valley and to the foot of Coniston Old Man, where the hearty can make an attempt to the 2635 ft summit and view never to be forgotten.
At the boating centre you can hire rowing, sailing and little electric power boats, setting off to explore the shoreline and bays.
Forest Cottage
Forest Cottage, along with the adjoining properties, lies at Townson Ground, adjoining The Cottage to one side and the main house to the other.
You enter into the combined dining - sitting room with beechwood furnishings along with two leather sofas drawn around the open fire.
The kitchen is fully fitted with slate floor, beech units and a good range of equipment to self cater.
Upstairs are the two bedrooms, a master double and a cosy twin. Both are comfortably furnished with fine linen and fabric. Finally the bathroom with bath, overhead shower, hand basin and WC.
In both summer or winter this is a perfect cottage as a base to explore the national park, walk by the waters edge, or relax at home tucked up in front of a cosy fire.
Please note there has been some post photography improvements to the sitting room layout and furnishings such as leather sofas and a new entrance aspect.
