QUICKTIME INFORMATION & HELP
Tours created in QuickTime Virtual Reality will need Apple's QuickTime Player.
For information on how to download QuickTime for MacOS or Windows click the QTVR Info
button at the bottom of this page. NOTE: QuickTime is a FREE download from Apple.
Generally speaking, if you have an Apple machine purchased new within the last five or so
years you will be able to play the Tours. The same should apply to a PC with Windows 95+ although
there may be difficulties if you have upgraded your version of Internet Explorer to a most recent version
which will not have the QuickTime plug-in (see below).
System requirements are as follows:
MAC OS
68030, 68040 or PowerPC processor
QuickTime extension version 2.5 or later
Quicktime VR extension 2.01 or later
MoviePlayer version 2.05 or SimpleText
WINDOWS
486 or Pentium processor
QuickTime for Windows
QuickTime VR components version 2.1 or later
MoviePlayer version 3.0 or later.
In both cases, you will also need QuickTime plug-in version 2.0 installed with your Web browser.
(eg Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator).
OPERATING THE PLAYER
Once you have clicked on a button the Tour will start to download. Sometimes the image needs a kick-start by
clicking the player screen. The fully downloaded Tour will look like this:
|
 |
The buttons on the base bar allow you to zoom in and out and the button marked "?" will highlight 'Hot Spots'.
You click on Hot Spots to move from room to room and from inside to outside (or vise versa).
To ROTATE the image use your mouse - place the cursor in the player screen, click/hold and drag left or right and
up or down. The more rapid the mouse movement the faster the image will spin. As well as highlighting Hot Spots
as noted above, the cursor arrow will also indicate these by changing from black to white as it passes over one,
showing you the way through to the next room or exterior view. When this change happens, click on the Hot Spot
and you will taken to the new view.
Once the Tour has fully downloaded, click the arrow button on the right of the player to reveal the drop down menu
where you can select to save the Tour as a QuickTime movie and play it at your leisure.
GETTING QuickTime
Click the button below to download QuickTime.
QuickTime is a powerful program and to download from the Apple site can take several minutes. Occasionally the
download times out (ie you lose the connection to Apple). If this happens, simple reconnect, reclick the download
and it will pick up from the point of time out. |
